Great At Work - An Interview With Morten Hansen

How Top Performers Do Less, Work Better, and Achieve More.

Morten Hansen, author of Great At Work TotalPicture interviewMorten T. Hansen

Guess What? It turns out we have the wrong work paradigm, pushing people for more when really we need to retool our everyday efforts and work fewer hours and work smarter.

Why do some people perform better at work than others? This deceptively simple question continues to confound talent acquisition leaders, recruiters and HR leaders; along with professionals in all sectors, who want to advance and succeed in today's ultra-competitive workplace. We often equate working longer hours with success, but the fact is that generally leads to stress, burnout, overall inferior work performance and makes a mockery of the well-worn work-life balance mantra.

A new, groundbreaking study conducted by Morten Hansen, of more than 5,000 managers and employees, shows that top performers actually work less but do better work. Guess What? It turns out we have the wrong work paradigm, pushing people for more when really we need to retool our everyday efforts and work smarter.

In his new book GREAT AT WORK: How Top Performers Do Less, Work Better, and Achieve More (Simon & Schuster), Hansen uncovered that top performers don't work more. Instead, they redesign their work to obsess over a few priorities. And it turns out, any of us can learn how to redesign our work to avoid burnout.
