Are Solution Stacks in Your Future? A conversation with Amanda Cole, Director of Operations at eTeki

Published on December 28 2016
Amanda Cole, Director of Operation, eTeki -TotalPicture Radio interview with Peter ClaytonAmanda Cole

Indeed recently surveyed over one thousand tech hiring managers and recruiters to better understand how the tech talent shortage is impacting their businesses. Almost 9 in 10 respondents (86%) said they find it challenging to find and hire technical talent, with over a third (36%) saying they find it "very" challenging. No surprise, right?

A short time ago I contacted Mark Willaman, founder and CEO, HRMarketer. I was looking for a someone who's in the trenches every day, with their pulse firmly planted on emerging trends and challenges facing HR technology, with a specific focus on the difficulties every company faces recruiting skilled technical talent.

That someone turned out to be Amanda Cole, Director of Operations at eTeki. Yes, the company is called eTeki - sounds like a perfect fit, doesn't it?

Welcome to a Innovation Channel Podcast on TotalPicture Radio. I'm you intrepid podcast protagonist, Peter Clayton.

Yes it's that time of year. Everyone is writing, blogging, podcasting, periscoping, Tweeting, Webinaring, (you get the idea), regarding 2017. I'm interested in hearing thoughtful, educated, expert opinions regarding Global Human Capital Trends. After all, the annual spend on HR tech is over $10B. And that's a number that will get anyone's attention. So let's get started...

Uber. Airbnb. Amazon. Monster. All of these companies disrupted their markets when they launched. Today they are industry leaders. What's the secret to their success? These cutting-edge businesses are built on platforms: two-sided markets that are revolutionizing the way we do business.

Joining Peter Clayton and David Dalka for a special Innovation Channel podcast to discuss the Platform Revolution is Marshall W. Van Alstyne, professor of Information Economics at Boston University and member of the MIT Initiative for the Digital Economy. He has made fundamental contributions to the theory of "two-sided" networks and IT productivity. In addition, he holds patents in information processing theory and in spam prevention mechanisms. Marshall is the coauthor of an important new book, Platform Revolution - How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy and How to Make Them Work for You, recently published by Norton.

Marshall and his coauthors, Geoffrey G. Parker and Sangeet Paul Choudary, reveal the what, how, and why of this revolution and provide the first "owner's manual" for creating a successful platform business.

In-Depth, Practical B2B Marketing With Digital Expert Dan Merton

Published on February 12 2015
Founder and CEO of LMSMedia, Dan Merton, interviewed by Peter Clayton - TotalPicture Radio Dan Merton

Welcome to a special two-part Innovation Channel videocast and podcast interview on TotalPicture.

Today Peter Clayton producer/host of TotalPicture talks with Dan Merton founder of LSMedia, which designs, builds, and executes custom tailored digital marketing and advertising campaigns.. Dan is an expert in Paid Search Marketing, Display Advertising & Retargeting, Mobile Ads, Programmatic Bidding, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter campaigns, eCommerce, web design and hosting. Today, Dan will crack the code on lead generation for us, specifically B2B lead generation beyond webinars.

Dan Merton started his digital career over 15 years ago at Outpost.com, an online retailer during the first dotcom boom. After Outpost.com he worked for Cannondale Bicycles as their webmaster, then he really got into digital marketing working for an eCommerce agency, now called BrandShop (formerly SureSource). Dan built the acquisition marketing team for Brandshop, and was able to turn brand marketing into a profit center for their direct-to-consumer eCommerce clients like Coca-Cola, Hershey, Kitchenaid, Guinness, Budweiser, and many others.

Overlapping slightly with BrandShop Dan took on the role of General Manager for an eCommerce platform called Americart. Dan was able to reverse a declining sales trend and put the company back on a growth track by rebuilding the core eCommerce software platform and introducing an aggressive digital marketing effort. This company was then successfully merged with a larger industry player.

Since Americart, Dan has been involved in website publishing, co-founded an eCommerce startup, and now operates his one digital marketing consultancy, LS Media. LS Media focuses on helping their clients grow sales revenue and generate leads from digital marketing while maintaining a positive ROI from marketing.
