Several weeks ago, my good friend David Perry contacted me and asked me to record an interview with a client he'd conducted a retained executive search for - which I did. and which you'll hear soon. The client, Sheryl Blackburn, does an excellent job of explaining the internal process her organization used in determining to hire a search firm to to fill an important position of General Manager, and the step-by-step process that led to a successful outcome.

The last time we spoke you had personally negotiated more than $185 million in compensation - what are you up to now?

So for listeners who might not be familiar with the way executive search works, can you explain the difference between retained and contingent search?

Your client I recorded the case study for was the Search Chair for the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation - they register cows and sheep and goats and stuff. We've done case studies before - but the tended to be for executive positions in high tech companies - how did you approach this assignment?

You had mentioned to me you had contacted over 250 people.

Obviously you do a lot of background checks as part of your research, but how do you determine if someone will be a good fit?

What was unique and unusual about this project?
