About Gautam
Source: Simply Hired Website
Gautam runs the show at Simply Hired, and the buck stops in his cube. And if he keeps us headed in the right direction, it may even become two bucks. In the meantime, he encourages us to do a lot with a little, and to be creative with our ideas and our energy (translation: free popcorn, unlimited O'Reilly books, but no aeron chairs). Gautam has lots of experience starting startups, and finding great people to help grow them. Prior to Simply Hired, he co-founded the India Community Center to help bring the SF bay area community closer together. Before that, he was CEO and co-founder of AtWeb, an Internet 1.0 company acquired by Netscape/AOL in 1998. AtWeb made a product called Web Site Garage that helped millions of small businesses "tune-up" their websites, and registered them with all the leading search engines. Before he invented the Internet, Gautam worked for several small businesses including HP, IBM, and Microsoft.

"Get Fired, Get Filmed, Get Famous"
Press Release for Simply Fired Video Contest:
Simply Hired , the world's largest search engine for jobs, today announced sister site Simply Fired and online video partner, YouTube are launching an online video contest entitled, "Get Fired, Get Filmed, Get Famous". The contest challenges anyone with some imagination and a little spare time to submit a short video of 60 seconds or less about getting fired. The films can be real or fictional, funny or film noire. The contest runs through the end of the year and prizes include an Apple Multimedia system, Apple Video iPods, coveted Simply Fired t-shirts, and blogosphere fame. Judges include noted tech industry bloggers, Jason Calacanis, David Hornik, Om Malik, Robert Scoble, and others. Winners will be announced in January 2006. Videos will be featured on the Simply Fired site and YouTube as they are submitted.

"When Apple launched their new Video iPod, we were really excited, but then it struck us some users might want more than just old Madonna videos and Desperate Housewives re-runs," said Dave McClure, head of marketing at Simply Hired. "Our goal is to infuse a little humor into the subject of getting fired. We're hoping Steve Jobs will contribute a video about the time Apple fired him or about one of his own firing victims."

Simply Hired is launching the contest with a teaser video of some indoor golf office antics that result in a calamity that would make even Tiger Woods cringe. The company will release further videos throughout the course of the contest and community submissions will be available as they come in. Videos can be viewed Simply Fired. Online video sharing site, YouTube has partnered with Simply Hired to host the new Simply Fired video contest. "Simply Hired does for job hunting what YouTube does for sharing videos online - turns an otherwise complex task into something simple," said Chad Hurley, CEO of YouTube. "This contest will be a lot of fun for our community and we can't wait to see what they come up with."
