Connecting Across the Generations in the Workplace
 W. Stanton Smith There are real differences between Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y'ers - when it comes to working together. Different attitudes, ideas and beliefs often times lead to disastrous results. Joining us on Total Picture Radio is W. Stanton Smith, National Director of Next Generation Initiatives at Deloitte. Stan has authored a newly released executive briefing titled Connecting Across the Generations in the Workplace.
W. Stanton Smith, National Director, Next Generation Initiatives
Stan Smith directs the creation and implementation of initiatives that help make Deloitte the place "where the best choose to be." He joined Deloitte as a Principal in June, 1998 and held the position of National Director, HR-Tax, one of Deloitte's largest service lines, until December, 2000 when he assumed the role of National Director, Rewards and Recognition. At that time he also became the Principal responsible for human resource research and analytics including employee surveys. Next Generation Initiatives, while always a part of his responsibilities since 2000, became his full time focus in mid-2005.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Stan spent 14 years at Price Waterhouse serving in the roles of Managing Director, Tax HR and Managing Director, Employee Compensation Programs. He began his career on the audit staff at Coopers & Lybrand and subsequently held a number of recruiting and generalist HR positions at C&L before joining the Mobil Corporation at its New York City headquarters as an Employee Relations manager.
Stan has a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife Roz are classical choral music and opera enthusiasts and reside in Greenville, South Carolina.
