Walkin' the Talk. Kent Kirch Leads Deloitte’s Best in Class Global Recruiting Practice

Kent Kirch, Global Director of Recruiting, Deloitte
Kent Kirch

Over the past five years, Kent Kirch has led the development of a global recruitment site that is aligned with the corporate vision but is customized for cultural nuances at its global subsidiaries. In doing so, Deloitte's Career's website has garnered many industry awards, including the 2006 ERE Best Corporate Careers Website. In the ERE Journal, Dr. John Sullivan wrote:"Deloitte has long been a leader in both recruiting and retention, and now it has broken new ground by building a global careers website designed from the ground up to focus on the candidate experience. Unlike most corporate sites, which are dull and serve as nothing more than "front-ends" to applicant tracking systems, the Deloitte solution uses cutting-edge marketing approaches and the latest technology to serve candidates consistently around the world."

Since June of 2002, Kent has led recruitment worldwide for Deloitte. He works with country HR and recruitment leaders to develop and implement strategies, tools and programs to enhance recruitment efforts. To date, this has included the implementation of a global selection methodology, an award winning global career website, a global talent management system, an international internship program and the negotiation of worldwide agreements with several providers of recruitment related services. Kent works out of Deloitte world headquarters in New York City.

About Deloitte
Source: Wikipedia

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (branded as Deloitte) is the second largest professional services firm in the world after PricewaterhouseCoopers and one of the Big Four auditors, a group of the largest international public accountancy firms. At $18.2 billion USD, it earned the second most revenue out of the Big Four in 2005 (PricewaterhouseCoopers brought in $20.3 billion in 2005). In addition to its accounting practice, Deloitte is one of the largest business advisory firms in the world, providing strategic and operational management consulting services to Fortune 500 companies.

It was previously known as Deloitte & Touche, which was formed by the merger of Touche Ross and Deloitte Haskins & Sells (outside of the UK) in 1990. In 1993, the international firm was renamed Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the third name coming from the firm Tohmatsu & Co, which merged into Touche Ross in 1975. The names in the company title refer to William Welch Deloitte, George Touche, and Admiral Nobuzo Tohmatsu. The name "Deloitte" is the firm name in longest continuous usage in the accounting profession. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu is a Swiss Verein, a membership organization under the Swiss Civil Code whereby each member firm is a separate and independent legal entity. Its global headquarters are located in Manhattan, New York City.

According to the firm's website, as of 2004, Deloitte had a total of 115,000 professionals at work in nearly 150 countries, delivering audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services to more than one-half of the world's largest companies.

Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, Deloitte's U.S. firm, provides professional services through nearly 30,000 people in the U.S. Services are provided by its subsidiaries, including Deloitte & Touche LLP, Deloitte Consulting LLP, Deloitte Tax LLP, and recently, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP.

Deloitte recently implemented the Women's Initiative (WIN) which is intended to make Deloitte a firm where "high-performing" women can find careers that are both satisfying and that provide expanding advancement opportunities. Deloitte also claims to have the highest percentage of women directors, partners, and principals among the Big Four accounting firms
