Dr. Ann Demarais, and Dr. Valerie White, both psychologists, are the authors of First Impressions -What You Don't Know About How Others See You. Each chapter of their book covers one of "Seven Fundamentals" of a First Impression.

The book breaks down the most important moment of any relationship, the initial meeting of two people, into its component parts... How do others see us? How do we see others? Dr. Ann Demarais is the founder of First Impressions, Inc. She has over 14 years of experience in applied psychology, specializing in interpersonal communication, leadership, and executive coaching. She works with individuals and groups in Fortune 100 companies in a variety of industries including technology, media, finance, and pharmaceuticals. She has coached at all levels of organizations, including SVPs, directors, first- and second-level managers, and star individual contributors. Her coaching emphasis has been working with leaders on business skills including leadership, strategic thinking, and change management. Her most recent coaching work has been with global managers to maximize their effectiveness with multicultural remote teams. Dr. Demarais received her Ph.D. in psychology from New York University.
