According to Cathy Pareto, a Senior Financial Advisor & Director of Business Development for Investor Solutions, women have a long way to go in terms of more direct involvement in the family's investment decisions. However, several studies suggest that women are better at investing than men. A couple of bullet points:

Cathy Pareto - Biography 

Cathy Pareto is a graduate of Florida International University where she earned a Bachelor in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and she is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner and a senior member of Investor Solutions' Investment Committee.

Cathy holds an MBA from Florida International University where she completed the Executive MBA program.

With more than twelve years in the financial services industry, Cathy has extensive experience working with individual and corporate retirement plans, financial issues for women, and estate and asset protection strategies for physicians and medical offices.

Cathy frequently conducts seminars and media interviews on topics such as retirement planning, women and money, asset protection planning, and investment theory.

She served as the Faculty Coordinator for the CFP® Program at Florida International University's (FIU) College of Business, where she also taught as an Adjunct Professor. She now serves on the Professional Advisory Board of Florida International University's Executive MBA program.

Cathy has published numerous financial articles in periodicals and websites including Miami Medicine, Florida Medical Business, AccountantsWorld.com, My Financial Advisor, Indexfunds.com, Fundsinteractive.com and Women in Business. Her media contributions also include quotes in Cnn Money, Latina Magazine, Hispanic Trends, AARP's Segunda Edad, AOL.com, the Metro Monthly, El Nuevo Herald, and many other financial publications.

In addition to her Board membership at FIU, Cathy is a Board Member of the Southeast Region National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Board. She is also a Board member of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami.

Cathy also participates in the United Way of Miami Dade Professional Advisory Committee, the Dade Community Foundation's GLBT Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. Cathy is fluent in English and Spanish, enjoys kayaking, music and traveling.
