For the past several months, like most of us, I’ve been conducting most of my conversations, interviews, meetings, and business over Zoom. Although I certainly miss the personal connections of life pre-COVID, I’ve found Zoom to be an effective tool for creating marketing and sales videos. Especially those involving customer testimonials. Here’s a recent example.

This video was produced for the Executive Search firm Perry-Martel International, and is a part of a marketing project called “The Rainmaker Series.” It features Shane Balcom, a real-life rainmaker and unicorn recently placed by Perry-Martel at Rossmann Architecture. David Perry, Managing Partner, is a personal friend, frequent podcast guest, SME, and author. His books include Hiring Greatness and Guerrilla Marketing for Job Hunters 3.0. His executive search projects have totaled more than $380M in salary.

One of the insights from Shane in this interview: I’ve used recruiters in three or four different countries, the neat thing about recruiters, the thing I would tell anybody if they’re going to engage with a recruiter, make sure… the human variable is considered here. Make sure it’s not just plug-and-play into binary and to sterile. Anybody can do scrapes nowadays on LinkedIn and find CVs and start throwing spaghetti at the wall. I’ve seen very few that are willing to take the time and have the passion to also connect the right people. And that’s a big deal… Connecting the right people is a really interesting, subtle skill… I need to love where I work. And that includes my bosses, the people. I need to love their moral set.”
