Joe Apfelbaum is the CEO and co-founder of Ajax Union, a digital marketing agency based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a public speaker, certified Google Trainer, and published business author. Joe enjoys speaking and writing about a broad range of business topics in his seminars, webinars and articles. He is the host of the popular podcast CEO Mojo and is the producer of GrowTime.tv.

Joe is a member of the Board of Directors of the Entrepreneurs Organization in Brooklyn, a group with over 11,000 CEO's and a contributing member of the INC Business Owners Council, a community of the fastest growing companies in the United States.

Joe welcome to TPR. Tell us about your background, and a little about your personal journey to Ajax Union.

I'd like to quote from Ajax Union's website: "As an aware, advanced and technologically gifted team of marketing experts, we help build businesses through leading edge technology. Our competitive advantage is that we don't just create concepts around digital marketing and business development.....we innovate and execute concepts that have powerful results." I'd like to unpack this a little. Leading edge technology is a catch phrase for lots of different things. Can you give us some specifics?

So I have a business that just relaunched focused on job advertising called JobsinPods - "the only podcast where real employers talk about their jobs and how to get them." I have a new website. If I came to you to help with business development and marketing JobsinPods, what are the steps you would take?

You are a Google trainer. What does that mean? (Are you aware of the changes Google made to it's Jobs API)

Most of the people I work with in talent acquisition and recruiting understand what SEO means, but have no idea what goes into building your ranking on Google. An example, if I want to be in the top five for the term technical sales jobs, San Francisco, what would I need to do to accomplish this?

(I can tell you right now the top 4 are Indeed job postings and #5 is LinkedIn job posting, followed up by Monster and Glassdoor.)

You're in a hot industry Joe, a very competitive market for talent. How do you approach recruiting? You're looking for a PPC specialist. Do you use job boards? Third party recruiters? How do you market your open reqs?
