Sparc - Vine for Hiring Managers and Recruiters. An Interview with CEO Maury Hanigan

Maury Hanigan, Founder and CEO, Match-Click interviewed by Peter Clayton, TotalPicture Radio Maury Hanigan

Yea! I get to interview a woman tech executive! A self-described nerd and tech-head. Welcome to an HR Technology Channel Podcast and Vodcast on TotalPicture Radio with producer/host Peter Clayton.

Yes, we're shooting video (after all, we are talking about a video job app). Joining me is Maury Hanigan, the founder and CEO of Match-Click, Sparc an award-winning recruitment tool that "helps employers engage passive candidates."

PLEASE NOTE: SINCE THIS INTERVIEW WAS RECORDED, THE NAME OF THE COMPANY HAS CHANGED FROM MATCH-CLICK TO SPARC. I met-up with Maury a few weeks ago at her office in New York City, and after seeing a demo of Match-Click, wanted to have her on the show. The concept of Match-Click is really interesting, and believe many corporate recruiters would find this edge solution to be an effective tool for engaging potential passive candidates to - at the very least, open the recruiter's email.

Sparc is very simple to use, lives in the Cloud, and requires no installation or back-end configuration with corporate database systems. Have a listen... or watch the video.

Questions Peter Clayton asks Maury Hanigan in this Vodcast:

Let's start from the top: Give us your back-story.

What is Match-Click and how does is work?

I want to talk about passive candidates - a term that's thrown around a lot by vendors... and one I happened to use in your open. And now that the job market has flipped (and I think much faster than many employers anticipated) its really getting a workout. So Maury, who are these elusive passive candidates?

What can recruiters do to move passive candidates from not at all interested to open to talk?

One of the things you and I talked about when we met in New York was authenticity. And I brought up the typical corporate career page (this seems to be particularly prevalent on Facebook) which happens to have the same model -- and if you're watching the video version of this interview I'm going to show you exactly whom I mean -- Here she is -- this woman is everywhere along with her multicultural and multi-generational friends! (I hope she's making as much $ as Flo that Progressive Insurance woman.)

That's to me the key to what you're doing with Match-Click these are REAL People

How do you deal with the challenges?

  • Getting employees to shoot video of themselves? (I'm sure with millennials it's easier)
  • Getting HR to buy this concept
  • Getting legal to approve
