Peter Clayton, Ward Christman, Larry Cummings, TotalPicture interviewHRTech Collaboration News Podcast

Last week - Apple hit one Trillion in market cap (Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft ain't far behind). If your name is Warren Buffett, your stake in Apple is worth about $50 Billion. Nice. And of course, many mutual funds, EFT's and Index funds also have large stakes in Apple. You're probably listening to this podcast on an iPhone or Android phone. The popularity of podcasts are a direct result of the universal adoption of smartphones. And we have Steve Jobs and Apple to thank for mobile apply, the app ecosystem and many companies in the HR and TA tech space who's solutions are based on mobile - especially iOS platforms.

And speaking about Alphabet, you know, Google? They've opened up their jobs API. According to Chad Sowash Johnson & Johnson has seen a "41% increase in candidates for hard to find positions. We're talking about like scientist, oncologist, those types of positions. 41% increase in candidates for those positions!" Oh, and then there's Hire by Google - Candidate Matching. If you're a start-up trying to get candidate matching to work, look out. Check out the Chad&Cheese podcast for more on this, and what Facebook and LinkedIn are up to.

Welcome boys and girls! HR Tech geeks, innovators, incubators, recruiters, sourcers, angels, VCs, vendors, start-ups, exhibitors, conference producers, thanks for tuning into Episode #14 of the HR Tech Collaboration News Podcast, AKA BBOP (Build Buy or Partner?) Featuring the 3 C's: Larry Cummings, Ward Christman, and I'm your host Peter Clayton.

Be sure to plug into my interview with Brad Sutton from GSV in the Leadership Channel of TotalPicture, and tomorrow Sarah Brennan and William Tincup will be on TotalPicture discussing on How to Work with Influencers, Analysts, and Advisors. An idea hatched by Brad Sutton with GSV at the HR Tech Summit in Toronto.

And are you going to Las Vegas next month? Arrive a couple of days early and take advantage of the Vegas Collaboration Zone September 10th and 11th. You'll find a link in the show notes of this episode and you'll hear more about it in a little while.

The HR Tech Collaboration Channel is produced by TotalPicture Media and HR Tech Advisor. OMG it's August!

I have to give a corporate asshole of the week award to AT&T who overpaid some of it's pensioners - you know, retired employees? And are now demanding their money back and sending collection agencies after these folks. People like 75 year old Eileen Ralston of Daytona Beach, Florida (profiled in the weekend edition of the WSJ), who about 2 years ago suffered a heart attack. AT&T is demanding a repayment of over $58,000 and has turned her over to collection. You know what AT&T? This was your mistake, this is on you. Eat it! The PR damage to your Employment Brand will far outweigh whatever you overpaid. AT&T's consolidated revenue for Q2 2018 totaled $38 Billion.

A hat tip and shout-out to the state of West Virginia! Yes, you heard that right. West Virginia. They have a pilot program for several thousand West Virginians serving overseas or living abroad using mobile blockchain technology. How about that?

Here's West Virginia native Larry Dale Cummings with more on blockchain.

On this and future shows we will examine how blockchain technology can economically verify the attributes of mission-critical HR transactions. How chained together vendors can collectively validate their piece of human capital truth.  Because blockchain takes advantage of alliance math 1+1=3, the cost of networking is lowered, and HRTA's mission to put vendors into the middle of the right deals can be more predictably achieved.

Because of blockchain technology's ability to self-manage, a marketplace's actionable insight can be showcased without its reliance on traditional intermediaries. Those without collaborative resources and a cooperative blockchain plan will be held captive in their old data silos!
